Austin LAMA Breakfast
Join us for morning of networking and discussion focused on how recent legislative changes are reshaping local land-use policy and city planning across Texas. Senate Bill 840, which took effect on last fall, significantly altered the development landscape by allowing multifamily and mixed-use projects to be developed by right on properties previously limited to commercial use. While the legislation was designed to increase housing supply and address affordability challenges, its implementation has prompted a range of responses at the local level.
Cities across the state are now navigating how to align existing planning goals, infrastructure capacity, and community standards with this new statutory framework. In response, many municipalities have adopted or are considering new ordinances aimed at clarifying development standards, preserving local priorities, and managing growth within their jurisdictions.
This panel will explore how these legislative changes are playing out on the ground, with a focus on municipal perspectives. Panelists will discuss how cities are adjusting their regulatory approaches, the implications for affordable housing and economic development, and what these shifts mean for future growth and investment in Texas communities.
Breakfast will be included.
