Houston LAMA Lunch | Defining Public Benefit: The Conversation Continues
Houston sits at the center of the ongoing debate over tax exemptions for affordable housing. As policymakers re-examine Chapter 392 and related structures, the industry must clearly articulate what “public benefit” truly means. Is public benefit measured solely by reduced rents, or should it also include the broader economic, social, and community impacts these developments generate?
This panel will bring together a housing authority leader, an HFC representative, and a PFC representative to explore the full spectrum of public benefit created by affordable housing developments and to develop clear, actionable talking points for engaging policymakers and stakeholders.
